Rahul Johri resigned on December 27. It is still a mystery why the board has suddenly decided to accept his resignation. Rahul Johri joined the board in 2016 and his agreement was till 2021. But he decided to resign just after Sourav Ganguly became board president.

“His resignation was accepted today (Thursday). He had officially handed his resignation some time ago but due to Covid-19, the board didn’t take a decision as BCCI wondered how he would find a job in these times. However, the board now has released him with immediate effect,” an official told to PTI

In 2016, when Rahul Johri became the CEO of BCCI, the post of Chairman was with Shashank Manohar. Recently, Shashank Manohar has also resigned from the post of ICC President. It is worth noting that before becoming BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri was the secretary of Union Minister and former BCCI President Anurag Thakur.
