The Asia Cup 2020 has been cancelled. The decision was taken in a meeting held on 9 July through video conferencing of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

This year the hosting of the Asia Cup was in the hands of Pakistan. And we all know that Pakistan does not have good relations with India due to which the Asia Cup venue was changed to UAE. But in view of the increasing threat of Coronavirus, the Asia Cup was being planned to be held in Sri Lanka or UAE.

But in view of the increasing threat of Covid-19, it has finally been decided to postpone the Asia Cup 2020 and now it has been cancelled. With the cancellation of the Asia Cup 2020 the BCCI is working on a plan to have the IPL 2020.

Significantly, Pakistan wanted to organize the Asia Cup but the BCCI was not in favor of holding the Asia Cup. This time the IPL can be outside India as Coronavirus cases are increasing at the rapid rate in India.

So it is impossible to organize IPL 2020 in India. 3 countries have also offered  BCCI to organize IPL 2020. This includes Sri Lanka, UAE, and New Zealand.

There is still no certainty over the host country of the IPL 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November also seems impossible and the cancellation of the Asia Cup may give the BCCI time to complete IPL in this window.
