Former Indian pace bowler, Manpreet Gony has supported Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina’s appeal towards BCCI to allow the Indian players to take part in the foreign T20 competitions. In his opinion, playing Ranji Trophy does not help the cricketers in making ends meet.
In case you did not know, Gony recently took part in the Global T20 Canada competition along with Yuvraj Singh. He earlier played for Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. Gony even made his international debut for India soon. Unfortunately, he could not achieve much success at the global level.
Speaking to Sportskeeda recently, he talked about the importance of foreign T20 leagues and how they can keep the careers of cricketers alive.

When asked about the difference in pay of IPL and Ranji Trophy, he pointed out:
“There are so many BCCI players who play IPL and can be earmarked to become the future of Indian cricket. Then there are players who play in Ranji Trophy but don’t find a spot in any IPL team. These players should be allowed to play foreign leagues, mainly so that they can earn enough money to contribute and run their family.”
He then explained that he could not understand the reason why BCCI does not allow the Indian players to play in the foreign T10 or T20 competitions. He said appointing Indian coaches in IPL is also important and continued:
“I feel the BCCI members think that a certain player will be spoiled if they play in the T10 or T20 league abroad. In that case, shouldn’t BCCI cancel IPL and disallow foreign players to play in the IPL? And about the coaches, why should foreign players come to coach IPL teams? They come only 10 days before the IPL and don’t know anything about domestic players. Our country has so many good coaches, they should be given priority over foreign coaches.”
Thus, in this way, Gony felt that BCCI needs to change its current rules.
