IPL 2020 ended recently in the United Arab Emirates. The Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL trophy with a commendable performance against the Delhi Capitals in the final. The Mumbai-based franchise recorded four wins over the Capitals in the 2020 edition of the IPL.
Speaking of IPL, there are some reports stating that the BCCI is planning a mega auction for the 2021 season. On top of that, there is also speculation that a new team based from Ahmedabad will enter the competition in 2021. In this case, a mega auction will likely occur.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to make some tough decisions if there is a mega auction. The board allowed the teams to keep only two overseas players of their last squad before the mega auction in 2018. So, the Hyderabad-based IPL team would likely go with the duo of Rashid Khan and David Warner.
They might release Kane Williamson from the squad. This thought has worried many SRH fans. They expressed their concerns over Williamson’s future at SRH and asked David Warner on Instagram if the team will retain him before the next season. Warner made it crystal clear that he wanted Williamson in the squad.
At the same time, he also added that the team management will make the final decision in this matter. Here’s how the Sunrisers Hyderabad star replied to the fans on social media.
Still, the news of the mega auction has not been confirmed. It will be interesting to see which names are retained by the franchises if the BCCI goes ahead with the reported plans. Also, a player like Williamson, who can lead a franchise, will be in high demand during the auction.
