The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to address the deadlock over the future of this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia at the meeting of board members on Wednesday. In this meeting, an announcement to start the nomination process for the next chairman can also be made.

The major decision will be taken on the organization of the T20 World Cup this year. T20 World Cup is scheduled to start on 18th October in Australia. But all the cricket boards including Australia feel that it is impossible right now to organize T20 World Cup due to Coronavirus.
So it will be a major decision in the ICC meeting. The future of the Indian Premier League also depends on the ICC’s decision over T20 World Cup.
Another important aspect will be whether the ICC’s outgoing chairman Shashank Manohar and the board will formally announce the nomination process for his successor. There are many contenders for this post.
Till a month ago, Colin Graves of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) seemed to be the unanimous choice and still, he is the main contender but the names of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Pakistan Cricket Board’s Ehsan Mani are also being also considered and this has made the matter interesting.
Another issue is related to tax exemption for the 2021 T20 World Cup in India. The BCCI is already fighting a battle over taxes related to the T20 World Cup played in 2016 in India. The issue of two crore 37 lakh dollars payable for this is still under the dispute resolution committee.
As far as the ICC is concerned, it believes that the BCCI has not shown any commitment to tax exemption, which is not possible without the approval of the Central Government. The BCCI has asked to give some time due to the lockdown due to Covid-19.
