Sri Lankan fast bowler, Shehan Madushanka who had shocked everyone by taking a hat-trick on ODI debut against Bangladesh, has grabbed the headlines for wrong reasons this time. The young pacer possessed illegal drugs, which is why the Sri Lankan officials have banned him from all forms of cricket.
In a shocking development, the fast bowler, who had played just one ODI and two T20Is for his nation has received a life long ban. It is interesting to note that he had a bright future because in the only ODI he played, he picked up a hat-trick. He could have become the team’s best fast bowler if injuries did not derail his career.
Sri Lankan bowler Shehan Madushanka banned!
During this Coronavirus pandemic, Madushanka tried to ruin his career by involving himself in a shameful act. Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement to address this controversy and wrote:
“Sri Lanka Cricket decided to suspend Shehan Madushanka from all forms of cricket, with immediate effect. The decision was taken following the player was arrested by the police and later sent on remand custody for alleged possession of illegal drugs. The decision to suspend will remain intact until a full inquiry is conducted by the SLC into the matter.”
However, SLC has noted that the full inquiry process has not ended yet. Thus, there is a thin possibility that they might reverse their suspension decision if he frees himself innocently from this case. The speculation is rife is that he may get a long suspension for his activities.
