Former Indian fast bowler, Atul Wassan has stated that Rohit Sharma should take over the reins of the Indian team from Virat Kohli. In Wassan’s views, Rohit is a better leader than Kohli. Hence, he would have crowned him as the next all-format captain of the Men in Blue.

Talking to Sportskeeda in a live session, the veteran pace bowler opined that BCCI should give him the captaincy at least in the T20I format. It is worth noting that Sharma has guided Mumbai Indians to 4 IPL championships while Virat Kohli is yet to inspire Royal Challengers Bangalore to a title win.

Rohit Sharma is a better leader in T20Is: Atul Wassan
When asked about whether India should use the technique of split captaincy, Wassan answered:

“I think so (need for split captaincy). Virat wants to captain in all there formats but Rohit has shown he’s an instinctive leader. His record has been good, he leads from the front. In Test cricket, Virat Kohli is boss, in ODIs, he should captain until the next World Cup. For T20s they can probably take the stress out of Virat’s mind and let Rohit Sharma lead.”

Wassan hinted that India has not won a major trophy under Virat Kohli. Also, there are two T20I World Cups set to happen in the next two years. Hence, it would be fantastic for the Indian team if Rohit Sharma becomes the new captain in T20I cricket sooner rather than later.
