Cricket Australia has expressed its desire to tour the United Kingdom in the second half of the year amid the Coronavirus outbreak. The two nations are scheduled to battle in the return ODI series leg of the Ashes series that was played last year.

England managed to draw the Ashes 2-2. However, the Aussies kept hold of the urn. Cricket Australia has frequently stated that if they do not play a single match in 2020, they will go bankrupt. They have constantly urged India to tour them in 2020. Also, they were the official hosts of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

CRICKET AUSTRALIA OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE

Talking to the Sydney’s Daily Telegraph last evening, Cricket Australia’s chief executive Kevin Roberts opined that Australia can send a squad to England to play a limited-overs series. He said:

“I THINK THERE’S SOME CHANCE WE COULD SEND A TEAM OVER. OBVIOUSLY WE WON’T JEOPARDIZE THE SAFETY OF THE PLAYERS, BUT THE BEST TEST OF THAT IS THE WEST INDIAN AND PAKISTAN TOURS OF ENGLAND BEFORE WE’RE DUE TO TOUR. WE HOPE THEY GO OFF WITHOUT A HITCH.”

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Wasim Khan also echoed the same statements as he expressed Pakistan’s readiness to tour England. Khan told the sources:

“WE ARE TRYING TO GET TO ENGLAND EARLY JULY SO THAT WE CAN GET THE QUARANTINE DONE,” KHAN SAID. “IF WE CAN PRACTISE DURING THAT TIME THEN GREAT, IF NOT THEN IT GIVES US JUST UNDER THREE WEEKS TO PRACTISE. WE ARE TOLD THERE ARE GOING TO BE TWO VENUES (TO STAGE MATCHES).”
