In the statement, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that before selecting these names, we looked at a lot of data and discussed many parameters. Rohit has set many benchmarks as a batsman and has achieved what many players could not. We think he deserves the Khel Ratna.
For this year’s Arjuna and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awards performances from January 2016 to December 2019 will be considered. Currently, Sachin Tendulkar (1998), MS Dhoni (2008) and Virat Kohli (2018) have won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
