Steve Smith could not play last time when India visited Australia in 2018-19 due to the ban. Indian team won that series by 2-1 and created the history of winning the first test series on Australia soil.
But this time when India will visit Australia later this year, Steve Smith and David Warner both will be available. Steve Smith has also made clear that he is eagerly waiting for this series.
On Star Sports show “Cricket Connected” Steve Smith said,
“He (Virat Kohli) is a terrific guy and the way he has lead the Indian Team has been amazing. They are amazing side and can’t wait to play them when they come out to Australia this year will be something incredibly special.”
The four-match Test series will begin in Brisbane from 3 December. After this, India has to play the day-night Test at Adelaide from 11 to 15 December. The third and fourth Tests will be played in Melbourne (December 26–30) and Sydney (January 3–7) respectively.
Steve Smith praises Virat Kohli
During this conversation, Steve Smith also spoke of his friendship with India’s captain Virat Kohli.
“I had few conversations with him (Virat) off the field, few messages here and there in recent times just to see how things are going in India. He is a terrific guy and we both play hard out on the field and play as well for our respective teams and its part of the game,”
Steve Smith also praises Virat Kohli for his gesture when he asked the fans to cheer up for Steve Smith last year in World Cup 2019. On this Steve Smith said,
“Virat’s gesture in the World Cup to the Indian fans that were giving Me (Smith) and David Warner little bit of a stick, I appreciated that and I share that with him straight up,”
For this gesture, ICC awarded the Virat Kohli with the “ICC Spirit of Cricket award”
