Matthew Hayden believes that the Chase Master Virat Kohli can play cricket even for the next 10 years if he remains consistent with his fitness goals.
In the recent interaction with Star Sports Show Cricket Connected, Matthew Hayden, Sunil Gavaskar, and VVS Laxman have put up their thoughts over the milestone of 12000 run-mark by Virat Kohli in white-ball cricket (ODI).
VVS Laxman and Matthew Hayden on the fitness level of Virat Kohli
When asked about Virat Kohli’s consistency Matthew Hayden said Virat is a special talent in so many ways. Matthew Hayden says, his records, consistency, and hunger for runs define how great this cricketer is in modern-day Cricket.
The kind of fitness he has set for himself as a captain or batsman is a reason for his consistency. As long as he is fit with his fitness goals I don’t think for the next 10 years the cricketing fraternity will be going to miss him.
“I think he will go on as long as he is sucking air into his lungs and has a heartbeat. One of the features I think of Virat has been his remarkable fitness levels. So for me, I think that is a really key element.”
VVS Laxman when asked about Virat Kohli consistently said, for Virat Kohli, the first milestone would be winning the white-ball cricket world in 2023 as a captain of team India.
“I feel his first aim will be the 2023 World Cup because he has the chance to win that as a captain. When we talk about Sachin Tendulkar, we talk about the 100 centuries but if you ask Sachin what has been the memorable moment in his career, he will say the 2011 World Cup that he won at Wankhede.”
The modern-day great has achieved the milestone of 12000 runs in the last ODI match of the series vs Australia. Even records of the great Sachin Tendulkar in white-ball cricket are not safe.
