Famous Hindi commentator, Aakash Chopra has joined the likes of Suresh Raina and Manpreet Gony in helping the discarded Indian cricketers to balance their life by playing in the foreign T20 competitions.
In case you did not know, earlier the BCCI officials had received requests from several prominent players to allow the cricketers who do not have central contracts and just play Ranji Trophy to make both ends to meet to take part in foreign T20 leagues.
Aakash spoke broadly on this topic during his latest YouTube video.
Aakash Chopra wants freedom for Indian players
BCCI only allows retired and special players to take part in foreign T20 leagues. However, now the Indian players are asking for freedom to take part in the other T20 tourneys like Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, Super Smash, and even T20 Blast.
Here is what he said:
“I strongly feel that players without a central contract should be encouraged to play in foreign T20 Leagues. Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) should go play in CPL, (Suresh) Raina should take part in BBL if he wants. Those who do not play first-class should be allowed to go (participate in foreign T20 leagues).”
Chopra had a very short career as an international cricketer. He could play only 10 Test matches before his career came to an abrupt end. Then, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. However, he could have improved his T20 skills and played more cricket had the BCCI granted him permission to play in foreign leagues.
