Steve Smith gives a befitting reply to the reporter after the day 1 end of the 2nd test match against New Zealand.

The Boxing Day Test match which is the biggest and most celebrated Test match Down Under is currently underway in Australia. This time, the Aussies are locking horns with their Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand. Thus, the attendance numbers feature fans from both Australia and New Zealand.

There has been a record attendance recorded of 80,000+ fans on the opening day of the Test match. Since this crowd comprises of both Australian and Kiwi fans, the Kiwi fans showed no respite to the local players.

About the Match 

Talking about the match first, Australia is batting first at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and half-centuries from Mr. Consistent, Marnus Labuschagne and former captain Steve Smith has taken the Australian team to a score of 257 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.

The duo of Smith and Travis Head is currently batting in the middle. Colin de Grandhomme has been the star for the visitors as he has taken two wickets from the four that fell on day one.

David Warner scored 41 runs but fell because of a wonderful catch from Tim Southee while Joe Burns seemed sleepy in the middle as he lost his wicket on the first ball.

Steve Smith’s savage reply

As mentioned ahead, the New Zealand fans are also present in the stadium and they heavily booed Steve Smith when he came out to bat in the middle. The fan rejection did not affect Smith as he played a magnificent knock.
